Video for Hilary Duff's new song Chasing The Sun. I can't say it's my favorite Hilary song ever, but it has some catchy elements. The song is off to a good start - it already has 2 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours. I definitely can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Chasing The Sun - Single out July 29, 2014
This is kind of sudden since it has been a while, but Hilary Duff is now signed with RCA records and is releasing a new album in 2014. The first single Chasing The Sun will be released on Tuesday, July 29th.

I wasn't really planning on updating this blog anymore since Hilary's career was pretty non-existent, but with new music on the way I might start getting back in the swing of things. We'll see.

Flashback - Past Grammy Moments
Hilary Duff did not attend the 2013 Grammys this year, but she did tweet about the event, showing her appreciation for one of the performances:
Elton John and Ed sheeren! Loved it!
Since we didn't get to see Hilary at the Grammys this year I thought I'd search through the archives and find some of Hilary's Grammy moments from years past:
- Hilary attended a post-Grammy party in 2009.
- Hilary at the Grammys in 2007.
- Pictures of Hilary and Haylie at the 2004 Grammys.

Hilary Duff in a Music Mood
Hilary Duff has been focusing on music quite a bit in the past few days. After revealing that she might be working on a new album a few weeks ago, Hilary has been in the recording studio quite a bit.
Today Hilary tweeted:
excitement ensuing ...now! recording all day!
Perhaps she was inspired by the premiere of American Idol, as she tweeted last night:
Ok so who is watching idol???
Although Hilary has never appeared on American Idol, some of her songs have been sung by horrible contestants trying to make it to the next round.
In a 2007 radio interview Hilary said she thinks it's awesome when her songs are messed up on American Idol.

Hilary Duff working on New Music
Hilary Duff just returned from a Hawaiian vacation with husband Mike Comrie.
Now that she's back in California, it appears that she will be spending some time in the recording studio working on new music. Hilary tweeted:
Exciting week, going to mess around in the studio and work on some music!
It's obviously too early to tell what the music project will be, or when it will come out, but it's good to see Hilary working on music again. Hopefully we'll see a new album soon!

Hilary Duff answers Fan Questions
Hilary Duff did a new "Celebrity Mailbag" video Q&A interview for Celebuzz where she answered some reader questions.
Hilary talked about her favorite TV shows (including The Walking Dead and Shameless), shared some skincare tips, gave some advice for those who want to be in showbiz, talked about her favorite music, discussed whether she's going to stay living in LA, and talked about some of her future career plans after she has her baby, including a possible new album.

Hilary wants Career after Baby
Hilary Duff has commented about her career plans after she has her baby boy.
She told E! Online that she still wants to do music and might even go back on tour:
"I want to get into the studio. I want to start recording. Even if I just mess around and kind of get myself in the swing of it. Before I got pregnant I was thinking about making a record so I still want to do that. I think that after I have the baby I'll want to sit still for a few months and learn how to be a really good mom and then there's no reason why I can't put a record out and tour...It might take a little while but I'm really excited about it."
It's nice to see Hilary still thinking about her music career, but she's said similar things in the past with no results. I have a feeling that it's going to be a long time before we see any new music from her.
In the same E! Online article Hilary hinted at maybe writing a child's novel. Given her recent success as an author I think that's much more likely than new music in the short term.

Hilary talks about Music Career
Hilary Duff did another interview for the movie Bloodworth. This time she was interviewed by Izumi Hasegawa of Buzzine.
The whole interview was pretty good, but I found Hilary's comments on her music to be particularity interesting:
IH: Do you have any plans with music?
HD: I do, actually. I'm just starting to build a new team of people, and I'm going to start writing, and I think I'm going to make another record. It's been four years. I really just needed that time to take a break and reevaluate, and grow a little bit outside of being onstage and stuff. Trying to change people's perception of who I am now and accept that, I think it's the right time now, and I've got that itch.
IH: Do you want to write all your own songs, or collaborate?
HD: No, I want to collaborate. I think I'm a big believer in collaboration. I haven't done it for four years, so I'm not sure where my competence level is, of just trying to write the whole thing. If there's an amazing song that I love that's done right now, I'd sing it, or I'd love to sit down and write with people. I think it'll be a mish-mash.
IH: Are you going to do the same style of music?
HD: It's definitely going to be pop music. I'm a sucker for a catchy song and dance music -- that's my sweet spot, so I'll definitely do that.
Now, to be fair Hilary has been saying pretty much the same thing about her music career for a while now. That she is looking to restart it soon and she has the "itch" to get back into singing. So I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but it's good to see Hilary talking about music again and taking steps to start up the process.

Hilary is Top Selling Disney Artist
Hilary Duff has sold the most albums out of the current generation of Disney music stars. According to Billboard, Hilary has sold 8.3 million albums in the United States. This might be an unfair comparison since nobody buys CDs anymore, but it's nice to see Hilary on the top of this list.
Note: The Miley Cyrus number does not include Hannah Montana soundtracks. If it did, I assume Miley would be close to Hilary's number.
8,300,000 - Hilary Duff
4,414,000 - Jonas Brothers
3,333,000 - Miley Cyrus
1,354,000 - Selena Gomez (& the Scene)
968,000 - Demi Lovato
719,000 - Vanessa Hudgens
566,000 - Ashley Tisdale

Music Blog reviews Gypsy Woman
Multidimensional Music Blog has reviewed the Hilary Duff song Gypsy Woman as their song of the day for April 16th.
Here's a sample of what they had to say about the song:
"Basically this track is one of the most interesting created in 2007 and definitely gives Hilary some credible points on a pop music career that usually wasn’t taken too seriously by anyone. Hearing this track again just gets me more excited about what’s to come for her when she DOES come back to music..."
