Haylie Duff to star in Hairspray on Broadway starting July 18

Haylie Duff will begin her Broadway acting career next week when she joins the cast of the Tony Award winning musical Hairspray. Duff will begin performances as the snotty Amber Von Tussle starting July 18.

I am looking forward to seeing Haylie's acting chops in Material Girls. Honestly I have my doubts that she can hang with Hilary for a whole movie but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Broadway seems to be a perfect fit for Haylie, she has that Broadway voice that would be perfect for a musical.

Jordan Pruitt - Singer - Outside Looking In

New comer Jordan Pruitt is a singer songwriter from Atlanta whose single "Outside Looking In" will be featured on the GirlNext CD that will be released by Hollywood Records on August 15. "Outside Looking In" is also the featured song on Disney Channel's upcoming summer movie "Read it and Weep" which will air on July 21.

Hilary Duff the CEO

There is a new Associated Press article that has been making it's way into newspapers around the country that talks about how celebrities are now branching out in to the world of fashion. The article talks about how Hilary Duff has followed in the footsteps of the Olsen Twins in her attempt to build a fashion empire.

According to the article, Duff "will be coming out with products aimed at preteen girls this fall. The merchandise, from clothing to room decor, will sell under the label Stuff by Hilary Duff in discounters like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and mid-tier stores such as Kohl's Corp. They include hot pink fabric handbags and cropped black jackets.

The launch comes 10 months after Duff became CEO and head designer of her own fashion and lifestyle company. To help secure her footing, she hired Robert Thorne, the Olsens' former manager -- and until early last year the CEO of Dualstar Entertainment Group, the Olsens' entertainment business -- to spearhead her merchandising empire.

The goal: to generate retail sales worldwide of more than $1 billion in two and half years, according to Thorne."

As if Hilary wasn't busy enough already, it looks like she is going to be stepping up her fashion game considerably. Although the amount of hands-on work that she will have to put in will probably be minimal, they are pretty much just using her name to sell the clothes.

Album Review - Cheyenne Kimball - The Day Has Come

There are a lot of similarities between Cheyenne Kimball and Hilary Duff. They both launched their music careers after being on TV shows. They were about the same age when they recorded their debut albums. They were both born in Texas but moved to California to pursue their careers. They both are pretty girls with blond hair, and they both make the same kind of music.

I was expecting "The Day Has Come" to sound a lot like a Hilary Duff album, and it pretty much does. Sweet bubble gum songs, with a rock edge to them. I would say Hilary is more rock while Cheyenne is more pop, but I don't know if others would agree with that. Cheyenne is a pretty good singer, and she writes all of her songs also, which is a plus. Definitely a better pure singer than Hilary, Cheyenne's voice reminds me a lot of Skye Sweetnam, whom I like a lot.

The songs themselves are all polished and upbeat, but aside from the standout single "Hanging On" I really didn't love any one song on the album. The title track "The Day Has Come" is pretty catchy, but other than that most of the songs sounded pretty much the same to me on the first listen. I'm not saying they are bad songs, but I don't see another breakout hit from this album like "Hanging On".

Overall, if you like this type of music you probably won't be disappointed by "The Day Has Come", but you might not be blown away by it either.

Stars Are Blind - Paris Hilton Getting Radio Airplay

Although she isn't really considered a singer by most people, Paris Hilton has found herself with a minor hit with the song "Stars are Blind". The song is #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, and is working it's way toward the top ten.

Hilton's success might give hope to Hilary Duff, who despite having two #1 albums and selling an estimated 10 million CD's worldwide, has never had a song get mainstream radio airplay.
