Kentucky Derby Prelude Party - January 13, 2011

The Kentucky Derby isn't until May, but they are already throwing parties to celebrate it. The "Kentucky Derby Prelude Party" in Los Angeles kicked off the start of the season with early prep races starting up soon in California.

Hilary Duff attended the party, as it looks like her favorite charity Blessings in a Backpack was involved.

Elixir International Book Tour in the Works?

Nothing official yet, but it looks like Hilary could be heading overseas to promote Elixir sometime in 2011. Rumors are circulating that Europe and Australia could be possible destinations for Hilary.

Again, this is not official, but it would make perfect sense for Hilary to promote Elixir in other countries. Hilary is very popular outside of the USA, and has many fans in Europe and Australia so she probably wants to expose Elixir to as many of those fans as possible.

If Hilary does go jet-setting to promote Elixir we can look forward to a bunch of new TV and radio interviews, which should be fun.

Lizzie McGuire 10 Year Anniversary

The first episode of Lizzie McGuire premiered on TV ten years ago today on January 12, 2001.

I guess you could also say this is the ten year anniversary of Hilary Duff being famous, since Lizzie McGuire was her breakout role, although she did do some other stuff prior to Lizzie.

Looking back on the cast, no one really broke out anywhere close to Hilary's level of success, unfortunately. Lalaine recently had a small part in the hit movie Easy A, but really hadn't done much before that. Maybe she will resurface in some movies soon. Some of the other cast members have had small TV guest spots, but nothing really noteworthy.

Other than launching Hilary's career, I think the show also paved the way for subsequent popular Disney shows, especially Hannah Montana. Lizzie McGuire and The Lizzie McGuire Movie was a blueprint for what could be achieved by marketing the star of a fictional show as a real life pop star.

Hilary Duff, Jennifer Lopez and Kristen Bell all wore similar "fuzzy toppers" recently.
