All indications are pointing to Stranger being the next single off of Hilary Duff's new album Dignity. It has been assumed for a few weeks now that Stranger was going to be the next single, but it seems like that is more of a reality now, as Hilary has hinted on her Podcast that she has filmed the video for the song.
To be honest, I don't think I would have picked Stranger as the next single. Hilary and her team have made some bad decisions in picking singles in the past, and I don't know if Stranger will break that trend. Hilary's self-titled album didn't even have a second single despite many strong candidates, The Getaway probably being the strongest. Off of Most Wanted they chose Beat of My Heart, which was obviously the wrong choice since they could have picked Break My Heart, or even Supergirl, both of which are much better than Beat of My Heart.
Stranger is a good enough song, but I would probably say it's somewhere in the middle of the pack of all the songs on Dignity. Plus I don't really think Stranger is very radio friendly. The chorus is kind of weak and the song isn't very catchy, especially when you compare it to songs like Gypsy Woman, Dignity, Outside of You, and I Wish.
I guess the most frustrating thing about the single choices is that the general public won't get to hear Hilary's best songs. The Getaway is a great song that nobody knows unless they are a Hilary fan. Outside of You and Happy are great songs that nobody will ever get to hear. And that's just sad.
